I just ordered the Perfect Pass StarGazer for my 2004 Launch 22SSV, can't wait to install it. I plan on taking pictures and posting it on here. I also plan to order an Acme prop as soon as I find out what size I'll need, haven't seen the boat in 100 days. Any suggestions on the prop?

Just talke to Jim at acme and he convinced me to get the acme 1235. Anyone have this one their boat? What are your thoughts; and also should I get the prop puller kit or is there a cheaper system out there?

You wouldn't happen to have one I could borrow or give you some compensation for?

I have used a 3 jaw puller before in the past from harbor frieght. But it depends on how tight the prop is if it will come off.

after you get it off the first time put some good grease on the spline and from then on all you need is a rubber mallett to tap it off. And my first time I used a 3 jaw puller

Can't help she's my little girl! Decided on the three stage puller since it's only $20 at Oreillys and a rubber mallet. That should get er done.

If it doesn't come off. Sometimes you have to get the 3-jaw under tension and smack the back of the prop with a hammer and it will pop off.

You can rent those 3 prong pullers at autozone for free with a deposit... cranking on the puller with a couple taps with a rubber mallet broke mine free pretty easily. It works well on a 3 blade prop but I'm not so sure about a 4 blade.

Im just assuming this guy has a 4 blade propeller.......
Me personally, id be using a 2 jaw or a single to pull it, unless youre in a big hurry id get the puller acme sells, one of the biggest advantages of the right puller, is you dont have to worry about the clearance between the end of the shaft and the rudder......If you use the right puller you wont have to beat on the propeller hub......but if you do have to tap on something hit the end of the jackbolt on the puller, it offers a greater effect than hitting the prop itself :)

I just ordered the 1235 from boardco for $549 and I got a pair of 400# fat sacs. I thought of getting the acme puller but just thought that it's a bit overpriced when I could get a simillar tool for free from autozone. Thanks for the tip TxSkySki! I'll post an update once I've installed and tested the new set-up! Thanks for all the info.

I think it's a keyed taper shaft not splined, so they can be tough to get off depending on how much the last person cranked down the nut and how long it's been on there.  With a 4-blade I don't think you'll have room to get the jaws through, and the rudder may be in the way, but if it works you saved about $100.  I agree with Hebert, a puller is great to have.  Search around you can find them online for a lot cheaper. Or just get Tony to come yank it off, he can be tempted by a cooler of Bud Light, but whatever you do, don't give him any until the prop is off!!!

I took the 3jaw puller, converted it to a 2 jaw puller for my 4 blade OJ 14 x 14.25 to get the prop off, I wrenched it with a 1/2" drive rachet and a rubber mallet to hold the blades in place.

I installed the stargazer today. It was fairly easy just have to have the proper tools. I'll say the hardest part was this Texas heat! Now I'm waiting on this acme 1235 and 400# fat sacs to come in!

I installed the ACME 1235 today. It was very easy and simple. I used no pulleys just a $5 rubber mallet from home depot and a loaned torque wrench from auto-zone. All I did was tap the old one out and tap the new one in. Texas Tige hooked mr up with a free cotter pin! Thanks fellas! All that's left to do is change out steering cables and fix my Bennett trim tab. Have no idea what's up withthat thing I know it leaks at the cable connections.

cable connections?  its not hydraulic?  if you can't tighten the existing fittings, go to home depot and get more.  Trim the hydraulic line by 1/4" and start "new".  make sure you are using compression fittings and do NOT use tape with compression fittings.
