i jumped in two weeks ago.  gamble on Citi, Hayes Lemmerz International, and Dow Chemical.  All are doing well from where i got in.  seems like the day traders are having a field day.  buy at night, sell in the morning.  overall, the damn market is flat.  bleh.

Who do you trade with? I'm thinking about getting started trading on my own with a on line trader. Are there any I should stay away from, or any good deals for newbie’s

stay away from Sharebuilder if you want to trade on high volume days.  it crashed on me two days in a row.  They say they have it fixed, but i don't believe them.

ScotTrade is supposed to be decent, As is TD Ameritrade.

check out RICK - hometown Houston company showing good cash flow and in a somewhat recession proof industry.   The EPS are strong considering the stock price.

NOV is another local houston company with good cash flow.

Of course I'm still recovering the raping that took place over the last 6 months

This is a great time to be getting in the market.   Look at big companys   that have been beat down.  Also EFT 's .    NEVER  be affraid to take a profit.  More $$ is lost because people dont know when to sell.
