Hey Chris...they advertise that it throws a heck of a wake too!  On the website, I see you can even order it with ballast bags.  Talk about multitasking!

I was talking to my friend Chris back in Minnesota and he said one of the girls he knows is sponsored by mastercraft and when they asked her what boat she wanted that is the one she requested and she said that the wake on it is awesome.  one of the best she has ever ridden.

Drive tanks, Livewell, Ballast, 3 tower options, all for a mere $82K.  It is an amazing boat though.  I got to drive one in Florida at the Dealer conference and they handled the open water like a bigger boat yet still turned like a direct drive.  I didnt get a chance to ride or wakesurf it but they had video of Zane and Andrew going pretty big behind it. Speaking of Mastercraft...

Its a 21 and a half foot pickle fork.  It is a new hull for Mastercraft.  It has 3 engine options in both freshwater and saltwater.  For fresh,(all indmar engines) MCX 350, the new LY6, and indmar's 8.1.  In salt water they are using Crusader engines and offer a 5.7,6.2, and an 8.1.  A decked out SS version (saltwater series) with the biggest and baddest options I think I priced out over 100K sticker.  It's a sweet boat and I would consider it if I lived in the bay.  Its def. not an ocean going boat though.

Looking at the shallow hull, I'd have to think that getting caught in a little weather would have you hating life. I guess I could see this on the bay with nice weather, but not much more.

Why are they venturing into such a competitive market?

It is high in price if you consider all the fishing boats you could purchase for close to 35k and be happy with out there.  I think Mastercraft wants it to be compared to the more upscale boston whalers/wakeboarding boats and they think that justifies the price.  Since there is nothing like it, maybe the demand will be great.

I was able to drive and ride behind the MC's reps demo boat on Lake Austin in May, and I was beyond impressed with that boat.  If I lived in Houston it would be perfect boat to fish and wakeboard with -similar to xstar wake, but definitely smaller with just stock ballast and 3 small people in boat, so you'd definitely want to add some sacks and/or take 5-6 people along for a bigger wake.  The gunwales on this thing are huge Peter - no way you would take on water even in 4 foot swells except maybe over bow - but it is sea-worthy for sure.  Driving from middle on barstool height seat actually rocks - your line of sight is 360 degrees, and the instrument cluster is sick (GPS and perfect pass included).  The craziest thing to me was that my 2 passengers/felklow riders could walk whereever they wanted in boat and not wash out wake at all - we tried to make it unbalanced to no avail, however I hear you can wakesurf though, so maybe my friends were just not fat enough lol.  If I had a choice I'd take x-star for the social "living room" layout, but the CSX is really a fun boat.  There are options for scuba tank holders, fishing rod holders, hardtop, etc. etc.  I heard MC is making a 28 or 30 footer for 2008 based on positive reception to this model.

I think this boat compares to an Everglades type center console boat, but without the noise, hassle and safety concerns of outboard motors.  The sink and main seats lift up via electric hood opener for engine access.  It is sweet boat for certain customers.

from what i have heard the all the mastercraft saltwater series have their  stringer systems reinforced to handle the open water.  adds weight to the boat and makes it a damn strong boat. m/c always seems to be on top of their game. took a tour of the new tige facility in abilene, they are using "marine power" motors now. never heard of them. they still have no ballast -whats up with that.

I didn't think about it till now but this would be a sweet boat for some of the resorts in Mexico or the Eastern Carribian, because its ability to meet alot of demands. You can scuba, fish, wakeboard/ski all in one boat. The only downside I see is that it doesn't look like you can fit alot of people in it. Although, It would so freakin sweet to go scuba for first part of the day, and then finish the day up with some wakeboarding in crystal blue waters of the Virgin Islands. Then an All-you-can-eat fresh seafood buffet dinner on remote lagoon beach. I just threw that last part in because it sounded cool.Cool It would be cool though.

Man I need a vaction.
